Jim Parbury - Classical Guitarist
Description
I began to play the guitar aged 9 in my hometown Colchester, UK on a guitar which once belonged to my Mum.
Between 2005 and 2008, I studied the guitar with Charles Ramirez whilst obtaining my BA in Music at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
Upon completing my degree I spent the next few years travelling and wwoofing before finally settling in Madrid where I taught English and then in Israel where I worked with different farming communities. It was whilst working on an olive farm close to Nazareth that I dug out an old Bach score and began to re-immerse myself in the classical guitar world.
Seeking out Guy Meir, himself a student of Charles Ramirez, I began to take regular lessons whilst living in Tel Aviv where I occasionally delivered vegan food by bicycle.
In 2013 I returned to London and began teaching whilst taking lessons with Graham Devine. In 2014 I began a postgraduate diploma at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with Graham. I have performed in masterclasses with David Russell, Leo Brouwer, Ricardo Gallen, Carlo Marchione, Zoran Dukic, Franz Halasz and others.
Since 2018 Ive been living in Barcelona where I obtained a Masters in Classical Music Performance at the Liceu Conservatoire studying with Guillem Perez-Quer.
